Mark Strippel is Head of two of UK’s biggest platforms for reaching young, BAME audiences. Mark has led national radio station BBC Asian Network to record audience figures since taking over in 2012, now reaching 1 in 4 of British-Asians over 15 years old. He has also helped launch the BBC careers of dozens of British-Asians talents, including Nadia Ali. Mark, originally from Hounslow, had a background in Law and New Media before joining the BBC in 2006. His profile in the Asian entertainment industry includes being a founder of well-known music collective Panjabi Hit Squad, and he was responsible for launching seminal Asian club nights at The Wag Club (‘Bombay Jungle’) and Limelight Club in the early 90’s. He recently took charge of BBC Radio 1Xtra, with core DJ’s including Charlie Sloth, A.Dot, Trevor Nelson and David Rodigan. Mark is also the Diversity Lead for BBC Radio.
