Shamim Syed, the executive head chef upholds the dedication to fine Indian cuisine that is Syed legacy, at Durbar Restaurant set in the heart of London, One of the oldest restaurant run by the same family since 1956; it has a grandeur and character that perfectly complements its outstanding food and service, achieved an exciting innovative approach to fine Indian cuisine, not least with his passion for rare and unusual spices.
After leaving college in 1996, Shamim Syed joined Family run restaurant and worked with father Syed Abdul Quddus and elder brother Syed Shahinur Rahman.
In 25th February 2000 Shamim Syed entered competition and crowned the International Indian Chef of the Year 2000. An editorial article written on the national newspaper ‘The Times’ ‘Shamim Syed is our true culinary ambassador’ 26th February 2000. Going from strength to strength he then won ‘National curry chef’ twice 2002 and 2003.
Runner up in Craft Guild of Chefs year 2005.
Winner of the Asian and oriental chef 2013.
